I love Somerset! I think it is a magical place. We've spent a lot of weekends there... walking, exploring, drinking cider, shopping for antiques, watching starling murmurations, dancing at Glastonbury Festival, celebrating my 30th and our engagement. We've watched the murmurations a number of times now so getting up in the early mornings means we've got to see the magical mist that sits over the valleys. Not to mention Bath and Bristol, two of my favourite English cities and Glastonbury town with its quirky shops, cafes and pubs and Glastonbury tor. It's got so much going for it...
We've stayed at:
Clanville Manor (The Tallet) - We've stayed here a few times. It is a lovely little cottage suitable for a couple (plus 2 children in the smaller room). It has a fireplace and is a great location for watching the murmurations at Ham Wall just down the road.
Box Farm - This is an incredible cottage we stayed with 10 friends for my 30th. It has an amazing country kitchen, big dining table (where we had a huge Mexican meal) and two lounges with fires. It also has some quirky black mannequins which were a bit weird but provided a lot of entertainment.
We drank cider at: Wilkins Cider Farm. It was just down the road from Box Farm and recommended by the owners. We met the owner Roger Wilkins and tried some of the ciders and found out later it was featured in Jamie's Great Britain recipe book.
We shopped at Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair.
