I fell in love with the Cotswolds very early on when I first moved to England. I went for a weekend away and it was exactly what I had imagined England would be... little quaint chocolate box villages and beautiful countryside. I loved it so much, I have been a number of times since... usually for a weekend away in a lovely little cottage with a fireplace in the middle of winter.
You are totally spoilt with cafes, tea rooms, churches, stone built villages and beautiful rolling countryside. The villages have the best names... Bourton-on-the-water, Chipping Norton, Chipping Camden, Broadway, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Moreton in Marsh, Stow-on-the-wold... how could you not want to visit!?
Places I have stayed:
Bowers Hill Farm in Broadway - A really lovely B&B on a farm with a wholesome home cooked breakfast including homemade bread and jams.
Pitchers Cottage in Chipping Camden. We stayed here with some friends as a group of 10. It is a lovely cosy cottage right on the high street!
Chris and I stayed in a gorgeous little cottage in Guiting Power. It is a smaller village which has two great pubs. The locals invited us to play skittles with them which was so fun! I don't think the cottage is available anymore which is a shame, but the village is still a lovely place to stay!
