As part of our Tuscany holiday we decided to get a train to Rome for the day. In hindsight I am not sure this was a very good idea and probably not something I would do again. We caught a high-speed train from Florence which was incredible, but did turn out to be really expensive. And it was a very long and tiring day. Why would we rush around such an incredible historical city in a day? I guess it depends on how much you want to see it and I really wanted to see it. Even with us rushing around, it was the most amazing city. Everything was so big, so old, so grand! The first thing we did was walk past the Vatican, where the pope happened to be speaking! We visited the Sistine Chapel so I could see Michelangelo's ceiling. And after that we just wandered around... we saw St Peters Basilica, the Roman Forum, The Colosseum, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. What an incredible city!
