When most people thinking about Ibiza they think about clubbing, it is famous for its big clubs and parties! I'm not sure how many people know it is an equally laid back beautiful island. One of my colleagues had a timeshare in Cala Llonga and offered it to me for the week for nearly nothing, so my sister and I bought some cheap flights and headed into the sunshine for our first holiday together.
I had no idea what to expect... we had been told the taxis from Cala Llonga were about £50, entry into clubs about £50 and then approx. £10 a drink... I'm really not that into clubbing! We decided to opt for a quiet beach holiday with some nice meals out and a few drinks at the local bars... it was all very civilised. Ibiza is absolutely beautiful and clubbing definitely isn't the only reason to visit. We had a lovely little apartment with a pool and a beach below, stunning views, some pretty good local shops and bars and you could catch a little boat to other parts of the island.
Every morning we headed down to the little shop where we bought fresh croissants, baguettes, cheese and fruit for our breakfast and lunch which we ate on our balcony. We spent all day swimming, reading or sun bathing and went out in the evening. One day I caught the boat to Punta Arabi, a huge old hippy market for the morning, it was great, but VERY crowded! We also caught a boat to a beautiful harbour for a really good dinner and some cocktails. We didn't actually make to Ibiza Old Town but have been told it is also definitely worth visiting... another reason we need to go back! If you're looking for a totally chilled holiday, I can highly recommend it!
